The aim of this page is to collate and publish information about the performance of Boat/Engine combinations.
To avoid the expensive trial and error method of trying various engine and propellor sizes, all owners/users (whether registered members or not), are invited to enter their own boat's statistics in this database.

All entries (gratefuly received), are assumed to be reasonably accurate and in good faith.
ShetlandOwners.Org cannot however be held responsible for the accuracy of any figures listed here.

About 12knts 3600 rpm. Consumption average so far just under one litre per hour various speeds

The boat is very new so not yet run in and engine has not been pushed hard yet.The 32 mile run was on the river Severn which was in flood so careful handling needed. The boat handled perfectly.

Sheltie, freshly antifouled-with good stuff.
Mariner/Yamaha 55, standard prop.
GPS says just under 27 knots in a flat calm, @ slack water; consumption *frightening* compared to last (displacement) boat, to be expected I know.
Mid-upper teens? Achieves plane from around 14 knots, unsure thus far re cruising consumption.

Only had this boat a wee while so far, might need to add/modify details later on. Payload's usually two (large...!) adults, around 500lbs between us, plus a (guessed) 350lbs of aux engine, tanks, fishing paraphernalia. She doesn't like heading into any so

Heavy boat. Fantastically composed ride. Handles solent chop with ease. Very relaxed cruiser and engine perfect match. Speed taken 3 up, full of fuel and cruising gear. Wants to fall off the plane at around 16 knots though. Doel fins help, and volvo QL tr

Boat cruises nicely at 18 kts, and fuel consumption is good as long as I dont open it up fully. Planes very quickly even with 5 people onboard.

Obviously under powered for a Speedwell and I intend to get a 60hp engine for the 2010 season. Fuel consumption seems to be about 1 Litre per knot per hour. Always towing the dinghy and in coastal waters.

DT40 Suzuki - 24" shaft
8 mph against a tide estimated at 4 mph (did not hold for long)
5-6 mph consumption as a guess (approx 1hr) 15 ltrs

Produces large wake or bow wave. No tacho for RPM... sorry, 3 onboard (2 adults and 1 child). Nothing really heavy. Aux Seagull Silver Century OB in cabin floor and another time when attached to bracket. Speed measured by GPS

Suzuki DF70 - 4 stroke
22 knots @ 4200 - not pushed due to tidal state
12 Knots @ 3000 rpm, 22 Knots @ 4200 rpm, fuel consumption unknown at current.

GPS used to measure speed, very frugal, very quiet, various speeds used to test engine over choppy/rough water, approx 1 gallon (5 litres) used over 45 mins. - will be updated shortly. 1 onboard, aux seagull in cabin, fuel moved forward to ballance load.
